How to Have Greater Harmony, Joy and Benefit in Your Work Relationships

“You can be happy in your work by maintaining open intelligence, growing more familiar with open intelligence and by becoming more confident and certain in that open intelligence. By gaining more and more certainty in the essence of what you are, you will have the energy to truly be of benefit to everyone you come into contact with. Usually people don’t go to work with that attitude; many people just want to do enough to get paid and then go home. But to go to work with the intention of benefiting your employer, fellow employees and everyone you meet at your job—well, that is a great reason to go to work!”

                   – Clarity in Everyday Life pg 112

For many of us, the work environment can be one of tension, disharmony, stress and overwhelm, even if we feel we are trying our best to make things flow.

Over 20 years ago, I found myself my perfect job, I had a great boss and amazing team. I was doing exactly what I loved and had always dreamed to do. Over time, things started to become less interesting, and even annoying and restricting. My boss’ requests felt unrealistic, and I started to feel overwhelmed and unsupported. The positive feelings I had in the beginning had changed, and even though I liked everyone, I couldn’t make the initial honeymoon happiness return.

I began to think there must be something wrong with me or my colleagues – surely someone was to blame for the negative thoughts and feelings? The result was an increasing underlying tension, walking on eggshells, and general confusion on how to most skillfully relate.

Over my career, this dynamic came again and again, and I could never identify the cause or reason and felt unable to solve it.

Then I was introduced to open intelligence and the Four Mainstays empowerment network, and I started to realize a profound choice in how to relate to my own thoughts and relationships – including with people I worked closely with each day. The relationships started to shift, from one where I had felt victimised by my own experience to how I could be of benefit to all in each moment.

I’m excited for you to join me for this week’s Facebook Live, where I will be interviewing Sonia Omar, a longterm practitioner of the Four Mainstays. You will hear how training up open intelligence revolutionized Sonia’s team and work relationships from feeling limited and disempowered, to being potent opportunities to bring greater harmony, joy and benefit to all.
